Start at the intended print size
A graphic that looks clear in a small preview may need further preparation before it belongs on a shirt. GothamThreads uses a proprietary graphics-preparation system to review artwork for its intended print size. The goal is cleaner reproduction that respects the original design, without sharing the internal methods behind that process.
Resolution supports useful detail
Print size and image resolution belong in the same conversation. Enlarging a small image does not automatically create the detail it lacks. Preparation considers whether lines, lettering and other elements remain suitable at the size they will appear on the garment. A readable design is more valuable than a preview that only looks sharp when it is tiny.
Transparency has a purpose
Transparent areas allow the garment to show through where the design calls for it. We review backgrounds and edges so unwanted boxes or leftover fragments do not become part of the intended image. The artwork should have deliberate boundaries, including the spaces between elements, rather than relying on a white preview background to hide a problem.
Color and garment contrast
Screen color and printed color are different experiences. Color handling is considered alongside the garment itself, especially the contrast between the graphic and light or dark fabric. Details that stand out on a pale background can lose definition on a darker shirt. Preparation aims to keep the important shapes and lettering readable; it does not promise an exact match to every screen.
Keep the original proportions
Stretching a design to fill an area can distort lettering, faces and familiar shapes. Preserving proportions helps retain the character of the original artwork. Placement and scale should work with the graphic, not force it into a shape that changes its meaning. These checks support a cleaner result while respecting the design the customer chose.
Artwork and garment belong together
The final choice also includes the shirt underneath the image. Compare fit and feel, explore our illustrated fantasy collections or find a starting point in the Gift Guide. Individual product photos and descriptions remain the reference for the design and garment options being offered.
